Job Description: 1st Mate required
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced 1st Mate to join our clients team aboard a 125ft Delta, Marshall Islands flagged charter vessel. The ideal candidate will possess at least a 100-ton license and a valid B1/B2 visa if necessary. Be familiar with the Bahamas and have a good understanding of mechanics.
This role is essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of vessel operations, as well as providing excellent service to the owner and guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain in all aspects of vessel operation and navigation.
- Ensure the safety and security of the vessel and all onboard.
- Oversee deck operations, including maintenance, cleanliness, and organization.
- Manage and train deckhands, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist with the planning and execution of itineraries, including docking and anchoring.
- Perform watch duties as assigned, maintaining a vigilant lookout.
- Handle lines, fenders, and other equipment during docking and undocking.
- Tendering driving skill a must
- Maintain inventory of safety equipment and ensure it is in good condition.
- Provide excellent service to guests and assist with any special requests.
- Participate in emergency drills and respond effectively in case of emergencies.
Qualifications
- Valid 100-ton Captain’s license - at least
- B1/B2 visa holder if Necessary
- STCW & ENG1
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role on a private or charter vessel.
- Strong knowledge of navigation, safety regulations, and vessel operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Proficient in English;
- Mechanically background is a plus.
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility with hours and willingness to travel.
- Extended periods at sea may be required.
- Must be able to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks.
