Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Captain for a 40m new build MY, set for delivery by the end of May 2025. The yacht is commercially registered under the Malta flag and will cruise the Mediterranean during the summer season, with a winter base in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The Owners, a relaxed couple are looking for a dedicated professional who can create a smooth, enjoyable yachting experience while ensuring seamless cooperation with the shipyard during the final stages of delivery and early operation. This is a private yacht, not a party vessel, and we are looking for a Captain who shares this vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full command of the yacht, ensuring safe and efficient navigation, operations, and maintenance
- Lead and manage a team of 8 crew (4 already on board) with a proactive, team-oriented attitude
- Collaborate with the shipyard and technical teams during delivery and the early operational phase
- Maintain a high standard of safety, compliance, and operational readiness
- Create a welcoming and professional atmosphere for the Owners and their guests
- Oversee voyage planning, budgeting, provisioning, and crew scheduling
- Ensure the vessel remains in excellent condition and aligned with commercial compliance requirements
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Licensed Captain with a valid Master 500GT
- Fluent English speaker – mother tongue level (mandatory per Owner’s request)
- Strong background in operating yachts of similar size, ideally in both private and commercial setups
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Natural problem-solver with a calm, positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility
- Committed to high standards of service, with a discrete and respectful demeanor
- Familiarity with Mediterranean cruising and local regulations
- Experience working with or during new build/delivery phases is a strong advantage
