Crew Training
Crew training is essential for creating a safe and secure vessel for both crew and passengers, and ensures that the crew can deal with any eventuality that may come up. The demand for well trained and professional crew means the crew training sector is also growing, training candidates in the essential skills needed to become a deckhand or crew member.
Positions within the crew training team include various training instructors, exam and training coordinators and health and safety instructors. Job roles in the crew training team entail having practical knowledge of the day to day running of yachts, the skills needed to keep everything running smoothly and good communication skills to convey the message you are trying to give.
Job roles also include planning and scheduling training courses as well as any recurrent training courses for existing crew members.
Requirements
Applicants to the crew training team should be analytical and have good problem solving skills. They must also have excellent communication skills and be able to engage with other team members and students at all levels.
Depending on the position applied for, experience in the selected field and instructor qualifications are a must. Crew training members thrive on working in a fast paced environment and must demonstrate a positive attitude to all job roles on a daily basis.
Strong planning and scheduling skills and competent IT skills are usually also desired but not essential.
