Company Profile
Lanzarote Powerboat Services is owned and operated by myself, Norman Sparrow, and I have been involved with boats and the marine environment for over 35 years.
In 1999 I decided 'to change my life and career' and moved to Lanzarote from the U.K. to set up a scuba-diving business, 'Island Watersports Lanzarote'. My association with Lanzarote and scuba-diving first started in the early 1990?s when, whilst still living in England, I was the U.K. agent for Safari Diving Lanzarote.
In 2009 I decided to 'retire' from full time work in the diving industry and concentrate on working with my boat and, in particular, to develop the powerboat training side of the business that I had started under the banner of Island Watersports Lanzarote.
Apart from my diving qualifications (BSAC Advanced Instructor and PADI Divemaster), I am a RYA Powerboat Advanced Instructor, Personal Watercraft Instructor and also hold a RYA/MCA commercial skipper's licence.
In January 2010 I furthered my sea-going experience and realised a long term ambition when I made an Atlantic crossing on a 40ft yacht from Lanzarote to Antigua, then onto Barbuda, St. Kitts, St. Martin, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands and Cuba – an experience I will never forget and thoroughly recommend to anybody who has such an opportunity.
My own boat is a Valiant 7.5 metre RIB and is berthed in the exclusive Puerto Calero Marina. Powered by a Volvo Penta D3 160 hp inboard diesel engine, it is fitted with chartplotter, fishfinder and VHF DSC radio. A full complement of safety equipment is always carried on board.
Whatever course or activity you decide to join us in, you will be guaranteed a truly personal service carried out in a professional training environment and using first class equipment.
I look forward to welcoming you 'on board'!!
