Company Profile
We are a 'not for profit' charity, run by a small base team, supported by one or more gap-year workers. Apart from the full-time Sailing Manager all the skippers and mates are volunteers. In line with current Employment Law Morning Star Trust is viewed as an “intentional community” because team members choose to become part of the community, earning salaries lower than commercial terms and combined with community living in pursuit of educational and religious purposes. All of us are Christians. We are happy to talk about our faith while letting people make their own decisions about what they believe. Sailing provides an opportunity to step back and take an overview of how life is going. To make the most of this we generally have a "thought for the day" or a short discussion of questions like "What do you think is the best way to be happy?". The activities of the Trust include the following: Sail Training Youth Development Tall Ships Races Coastal and Offshore Cruising RYA qualifications Duke of Edinburgh Award Residential Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition - Bronze, Sliver and Gold Group charter Gap-year opportunities
