Company Profile
Welcome to the Club’s web site: I hope it tells you what you want to know about our Club, and what’s going on in our racing, cruising and social programmes. We aim to be successful on the water, friendly and welcoming ashore. Every year, we run something over 200 days of organised sailing events, we start over 400 races and run a dozen or so open events which attract over 800 entrants. Our keel-boats compete at national level and our members are regular prize winners in individual classes at Cowes Week and in the Round the Island Race. The Cruising Division host a whole range of events for motor and sailing yachts throughout the year. Our burgee is flown round the world by Members cruising in South America, Australia, the Baltic, the North Sea coasts of Scotland and Scandinavia, Atlantic Spain and the Mediterranean as well as the cruising grounds closer to home. Our many junior & youth sailors enjoy high quality coaching & training in our nationally and internationally successful fleets of Optimists, 29ers, Teras, Lasers & 420s, which set exceptional standards of performance and development of individuals. Many of our young sailors are selected to RYA training squads and go on to take part in World & European championships. Our Wednesday Junior Sailing programme has trained thousands of children from the local community and introduced them to the joys of sailing. In the Clubhouse, we aim to provide a pleasant, friendly place where members and visitors can relax and enjoy our bar & balcony with stunning views across the Solent and good food prepared from fresh ingredients every day. We run a varied and well attended winter programme of training courses, lectures, special suppers, formal dinners and traditional Christmas and New Year events, as well as the key social events of the seasons such as the Laying Up and Fitting Out parties, the Summer Regatta Ball and the Annual Prizegiving. Members of reciprocal clubs and members of other RYA recognised clubs, whilst sailing in the Western Solent, are very welcome to make use of our bar and restaurant. If visiting on a Friday or Saturday and wishing to dine, it is recommended that you book a table in advance through the House Manager on 01590 671751. The Club is justly proud of its welcoming family atmosphere and of the high standards at sea attained by its Members. We are honoured to have Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal as Patron."
