Southwest Powerboating is owned & operated by Diane Bush and Ian Lawrence – both highly experienced instructors.

Diane known to most as ‘Di’ has been involved in the outdoor leisure industry for over 20 years.

Her chosen career has taken her from the murky waters of the North Sea, across to Europe and on to New Zealand. She spent a couple of years skippering the Ambulance boat ‘The Star of Life’ around the Scillies.

Diane has interests in many sports including Sailing and Windsurfing for both of which she is an RYA Advanced Instructor; however the Powerboating has gradually taken over partly due her involvement with the Falmouth lifeboats. She is a Helm on their Inshore or Atlantic 75, and Mechanic on their all weather Lifeboat which is the Severn class and the largest in the RNLI fleet. She is a Powerboat and PWC trainer, and was appointed by the RYA as an Advanced Powerboat Examiner last year. She is also one of a handful of female Yachtmaster Power Instructors.
