Centenary can be hired by any bone fide youth organizations such as Youth Clubs, Scouts, Guides and Schools. Young people should be between the age of 10 and 26. Special needs organizations can be older. RYA training courses are available to any individuals. For Centenary hirings there must be at least two leaders one of whom must have undertaken a recognised training such as a Helmsman Course or Scout and Guide Leader Permit described on our RYA Training page. The second leader requires narrowboat experience. Crew discipline is an important factor in water safety; the leader is responsible for maintaining appropriate discipline.
