Electronic Chart Display (ECDIS)

Conducted in accordance with the MNTB Training guidelines & compliance with IMO Model 1.27, Edition 2012 .

Conducted Latest Transas Navisailor 4000.

Objectives:

•To enhance safety of navigation by providing the knowledge and skills necessary to fully utilize the features of ECDIS.

•Training and assessments incorporate the use of live marine equipment networked with the instructor's station.

•Knowledge of the basic theory and use of ECDIS and comprises all safety relevant aspects, as well as the theoretical aspects of the characteristics and display of ECDIS.

Course content:

•The safe operation of ECDIS equipment

•The proper use of various types of ECDIS-related information

•Knowledge of the capability and limitations of ECDIS operator training

•Students will perform exercises in setting-up and maintaining an ECDIS display, basic navigation functions, setting-up and monitoring a route, and performing proper actions necessary for a safe navigational watch.

There are 12 work stations each fitted with a MFD (ECDIS / ARPA), Conning and ARPA monitor ( 6 cubicles – 2 work stations per cubicle).

Eligibility : COC as per respective grades

Course duration : 5 days
