This one-day elementary first aid course forms part of the mandatory basic safety training for all seafarers.
All commercial fishermen working aboard a vessel of any size are required to have attended an MCA Approved Basic Safety Training course in First Aid.
Course Certification and Compliance:
Our course is fully approved by Seafish and the MCA and compliant with STCW Ref. A-VI/1-3
Certificates issued are applicable to Merchant Navy (STCW’95) and the Commercial Fishing Industry.

Course Aim:
To introduce learners to the principles of first aid, so that they can safely assess and record the condition of casualties, effectively communicate the condition of casualties and provide appropriate care until medical assistance can be obtained.
By the end of training candidates will be able to:
Safely approach and assess the condition of a casualty
Apply effective first aid
Perform effective CPR
Recognise life threatening conditions
Record the condition of a casualty on a Emergency Recording Chart
Communicate effectively with health professionals to obtain appropriate assistance
Examination type:
Candidates must complete a short multiple choice exam.
