Cocktail and Spirits Intermediate Course:
This is a one day PYA Approved Course as part of the G.U.E.S.T. Training Program. The prerequisite for the course is the Introductory Wine & Cocktail (Bartending I Course #832). Please note that in addition to the course fee, the PYA will also charge a 25 euro charge for the PYA Certificate Registration.
Jonathan Pogash, “The Cocktail Guru”, will lead this day-long course meant to educate and inform yacht crew members on the world of spirits and mixed beverages. On completion of the training, course participants will have sufficient knowledge and understanding to enable them to:
* Know how to make 7 basic drinks and variations
* Be able to be creative with ingredients * Understand what makes a balanced drink
* Have a good understanding of basic spirit categories (vodka, gin, rum, tequila, etc.)
* Understand how to read a recipe
* Know how to conduct a tasting
About your instructor: Jonathan Pogash, certified PYA Yacht Crew Instructor for Spirits & Cocktails, has trained thousands of hospitality industry professionals across the world. He leads cocktail classes at the Institute of Culinary Education and has held master classes at Johnson & Wales University. Jonathan\'s speciality cocktails can be enjoyed throughout some of the most well-known watering holes across North America. Jonathan has appeared on numerous national and local television and radio networks, including NBC’s “Today Show”, “Fox & Friends”, and Martha Stewart Living Radio. Jonathan is also the author of the 75th Anniversary Edition of the iconic cocktail book, “Mr. Boston Bartenders’ Guide.”
