Welcome to TCA’s Advanced Housekeeping Services Course. This thorough course will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver unparalleled housekeeping services onboard.
Students will develop the expertise to maintain immaculate environments while ensuring the smooth operation of housekeeping duties. They will learn the importance of adhering to standard operating procedures and schedules to maintain consistency and exceed guest expectations. They will gain deep insights into sustainable practices, responsible waste management and their role in preserving the delicate ecosystem of our oceans.
From delicate antique furniture to state-of-the-art electronics, participants will discover the secrets to preserving the beauty and functionality of specialty items and furniture. They will enhance their understanding of properly caring for luxury linens, plush carpets, and exquisite upholstery, ensuring their longevity and appearance. Students will discover the art of cleaning and detailing interior areas with a keen eye for detail and a deep awareness of guest needs.
They will gain proficiency in setting up guest cabins and executing evening turndowns to perfection. The course will also go through methodologies to optimise workflow and ensure housekeeping operations are completed promptly and flawlessly.

Your Trainer -Sarah Wood
Born and raised on Canada’s Great Lakes, Sarah spent over ten years working between luxury estates and various superyachts, working her way up to Chief Stewardess on 40 to 85m vessels.
Since joining the Crew Academy team Sarah has been refreshing the interior courses and is excited to share her experience and love for the industry as an IAMI GUEST approved trainer, teaching an assortment of interior courses. Our blended eLearning courses include a face-to-face session with Sarah.

Topic 1: Housekeeping Operations
How to apply the processes & procedures for the onboard housekeeping operations.
- The housekeeping SOPs for managing daily, weekly & monthly cleaning and maintenance procedures and schedules
- How to apply schedules for cleaning and maintaining the following:
- A wide variety of surfaces
- A wide variety of unusual and luxury fabrics and soft furnishings
- Cleaning equipment
- Garbage & waste management
Topic 2: Cleaning Techniques and Equipment
How to correctly apply cleaning techniques & the use of chemicals & equipment during housekeeping operations
- The effects and usage of a variety of cleaning products
- Interpreting and following instructions for cleaning and maintaining a variety of surfaces
- Interpreting and following instructions for cleaning and maintaining a variety of soft furnishings and fabrics
Topic 3: Managing Housekeeping Services
How to manage professional & efficient housekeeping services onboard.
- How to provide & manage the cleaning/detailing of all interior areas using schedules and checklists.
- The importance of ensuring good attention to detail and guest awareness
Topic 4: Healthy and Safety
Health & safety procedures and risk assessments of housekeeping operations
Course Format
Total of 24 hours of blended learning; Online allowing students to join from any time-zone and location.
- Video introduction to Unit (10 minutes)
- Guided eLearning / Self-study through VLE (16.5 hours)
- Series of multiple-choice knowledge checks throughout course
- 1:1 tuition with trainer (1 hour)
- 3-part practical assessment comprising of:
