The City & Guilds 8269 level 3 MSO Course has been developed to meet the requirements of the Maritime Security Standard ISO28007; and currently is the only qualification that has been directly mapped against this standard.
This course is designed to prepare the student for work in the maritime security industry and has been developed to provide an industry standard for field operatives in maritime security awareness and emergency response training. It will become the maritime industry standard entry level qualification and will replace the necessity to acquire an SSO certificate; although STCW95 certificates will still be required for those wishing to work in this field.
Course Structure
Unit 1- Understand the Maritime Security Industry
Unit 2- Understand Maritime Pre-Deployment Planning & Procedures
Unit 3- Understand Maritime Security Operating Procedures
Unit 4- Understand Maritime Incident management & Post Operational Procedures Assessment: Candidates will be assessed for practical and theoretical understanding of the key learning outcomes. This will culminate in the City & Guilds examination and a practical assessment.
