This MCA regulated Personal Safety and Social Responsibility course conforms with MNTB guidelines and forms part of the requirements for basic training for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity onboard ship. It provides all delegates intending to go to sea, the education and training in personal safety and social responsibility to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency (KUP) requirements.
This course introduces safety procedures and accident prevention while becoming familiar with the employment conditions and working environments on board ships.
It is one of five courses that together make up the STCW Basic Safety Training Course - an essential qualification for anyone wishing to work on commercial ships.
Course Structure
By the end of the course delegates will:
Know how to comply with emergency procedures onboard a vessel
Know how to take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment
Know how to follow safe working practices
Know how to contribute to effective communications onboard ship
Know how to contribute to effective human relationships onboard ship
Understand the causes of fatigue and knows the necessary actions to control fatigue
