This MCA regulated, 5 day, basic safety training course conforms with MNTB guidelines and includes the following 5 courses:
Elementary First Aid (EFA)
Personal Survival Techniques (PST)
Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FPFF)
Personal Safety & Social Responsibility (PSSR)
Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)
This complete training course provides all delegates intending to go to sea, the education and training in basic safety training to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency (KUP) requirements and is an essential qualification for anyone wishing to work on commercial ships.
Delegates should be aware of the practical aspects of the training and the requirement to be fit and well enough to undertake the practical exercises.
Course Structure
What will I learn on this course?
Elementary First Aid (EFA)
Those attending this course will learn the correct action to take in a first aid emergency. Including how to administer basic life support, and deal with burns, bleeding, fractures, major illness and shock.
Personal Survival Techniques
Delegates will learn how to use survival craft and equipment, along with what actions to take to overcome or reduce immediate threat to life.
Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting
Delegates will learn the correct action to take in an emergency, perform firefighting operations using a range of equipment, wear self-contained breathing apparatus, operate in a smoke-filled environment and recover a casualty.
Personal Safety & Social Responsibility (PSSR)
Delegates will gain an introduction to safety procedures and accident prevention whilst working on board a vessel.
Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)
Delegates will understand and recognise the standards of competence required to ensure security awareness and vigilance on board a ship.
