Entry requirements
Before commencing training, trainees must be at least 16 years of age, have received approved or recognised training in Personal Survival Techniques or equivalent and have completed a minimum of six months sea service.
Training may be undertaken by individuals who have not achieved the sea service requirement of a minimum six months, but the certificate will not be awarded until proof of completion of six months sea service has been provided.
Candidates must be aware that the practical aspects of the training are physically demanding in nature. If there is any doubt as to an individual’s ability to participate in such exercises candidates should consider obtaining a UK ENG1 seafarer medical certificate, or equivalent, as an indicator of fitness.
