To teach boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation up to the standards required to drive a planning powerboat safely by day and night in tidal coastal waters with which the candidate is familiar.
Course Structure
The course covers;
Preparation, passage planning meteorology, skipper's responsibilities.
Boat handling and manoeuvres, high speed boat handling, advanced manoeuvres, monoeuvring in rough weather.
Chart plotters and radar, pilotage day and night.
Emergency situations, differences for a twin engine vessel
Useful Information
Minimum age 17years old
We require you to have completed a coastal powerboat 2 and intermediate course and have at least 2 years relevant experience including night pilotage. As a guide; 30 days, 2 days as skipper, 800miles, 12 night hours.
We require you to have completed the Day Skipper and Yacht Master/Coastal skipper theory courses, and have a the RYA first aid and VHF operators certificates.
