RYA Powerboat Level 1

At Sea N Shore we teach safety first and with the Powerboat 1 course we teach children as young as eight years old. We ask that we can contact the parents by phone, during the time that your children are with us. It is a great opportunity for parents to join their children as they learn the first step into safe boating. Children learn by interaction and fun, we aim to make their day as engaging and enjoyable as possible, using skillful games and fun filled challenges along the way.

Course Structure

On this one day course we cover:

Safety equipment, life jackets, flares, first aid and radio

Launching & recovery

Boat handling, basic fuel systems, basic fault finding

Approaching and securing to a buoy, rope work and knots

Anchoring

Leaving and coming alongside

Tides, pilotage and basic chart awareness

Man overboard

Useful Information

Timings of the course are usually 9am – 4pm each day.

We provide full waterproofs and life jackets.

Minimum age 8 years old
