RYA Day Skipper Theory

Recommended to anyone who wishes to take the RYA Day Skipper Practical course.

RYA Day Skipper Theory courses are run throughout the year from our base in London.

RYA Day Skipper Theory Course Content A comprehensive introduction to navigation and safety this course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.

Subjects include:

Charts and publications

Tides and how to use them

Weather forecasting

Position fixing

Use of electronic navigation

Emergency and safety procedures including distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, lifejackets and life rafts.
