RYA Day Skipper

The course is conducted on board an approved cruising yacht (less than 15m LOA). The aim is to teach pilotage, navigation, seamanship and boat handling up to the standard required to skipper (be responsible for) a cruising yacht safely by day in non-tidal waters. The minimum age required to award this certificate is 16 years old.

Useful Information

Previous Experience

•Completed a competent crew course successfully or you have. 5 days sailing, 100 nm and 4 night hours. You should also be able to sail a boat efficiently and

•have an understanding of basic Navigation.

•To have completed a Day Skipper Shorebased course would be an advantage to successfully completing a Day Skipper practical course.

•To hold a DSC SRC VHF license would also be an advantage prior to this course.
