The new two-day RYA Esential Navigation and Seamanship Theory course is aimed at a wide audience, including anyone new to sailing, motor boating, sea angling and diving as well as experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers.
Minimum duration:16 hours. Can be taught over 2 days or a series of shorter sessions. Can now be done online at RYA Interactive.

Course content: Charts and publications, safety, buoyage, tidal awareness, basic navigation and pilotage, rules of the road, electronic navigation, anchoring, weather forecasts, passage planning.
Ability after course: Following the course students will have a basic awareness and understanding of navigation and safety.
