The main topics that are covered in the RYA Interactive Essential Navigation & Seamanship syllabus include how to read and make use of charts and publications, Safety, Rules of the Road, Pilotage and Anchoring, to name a few of the subjects.

You will also learn about visual and electronic navigational techniques whilst additionally learning how to plan a passage for a journey. Other topics include making the most of weather forecasts and how to understand the terminology, and how to use the buoyage system to recognize and avoid danger.

As with all of our main courses, a full RYA certificate is awarded at the end following successful completion and the final examination is carried out at home or at sea.
