In a medical emergency a little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This one day course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support skippers of yachts and motor vessels. It fulfils the requirements for skippers of small craft working within 60 miles of a safe haven. The course is MCA and HSE approved and is therefore sufficient for anyone requiring a commercial endorsement.
Course topics include CPR, the recovery position, drowning, beathing difficulties, shock, bleeding, medical conditions, fractures, hypothermia, burns, seasickness and dehydration, first aid kits, Medivac and seeking assistance by radio.
Upon successful completion, the RYA First Aid certificate will be issued. The certificate is valid for three years from date of issue.
