This is for people who have completed their level 1 and want to become a competent sailor in light winds. Completion of this course is the basis from which to further develop your sailing.
Course Structure
Course work is both practical and classroom based, and follows on from the tasks completed during level 1 training. Elements will include understanding how to rig according the weather conditions, additional ropework, The Five Essentials of sailing, close boat handling and manoeuvring. There is special attention on safety, capsize drills and recognising dangers. There will also be an introduction to racing including the course and starting procedures.
Useful Information
Guidance will be given on specialised clothing and equipment in which you may wish to invest in the future. For the purposes of this course no special clothing is required, but a change of clothing is recommended. It can get cold on the water so warm clothing should be considered. Your feet may get wet so wear an old pair of trainers or pumps. They should have a reasonable amount of grip. Personal bouyancy aids will be provided for the duration of the course.
