RYA Level 2 (dinghy)

The RYA Start Sailing Level 2 course is for those who have already completed RYA Start Sailing Level 1. It builds on the knowledge and skills you have already learnt and gives you a better understanding and ability so you will feel more comfortable crewing a yacht and helming with a skipper on board.

This course is 16 hours and we run it over 2 days as a non-residential course. By the end of these two days you will increased your knowledge on sailing upwind and downwind, hoisting the sails, and helming the boat. You will be introduced to the principals of sailing and actions to be taken during different manoeuvres. You will revise the three maritime knots – figure of eight, round turn and two half hitches and a bowline you learnt during RYA Start Sailing Level 1 and add into this the bowline, clove hitch and figure of eight knot. Your knowledge of safety on board will also be built on from RYA Start Sailing Level 1. On successful completion you will be awarded with the RYA Start Sailing Level 2 certificate.

RYA Start Sailing Level 1 and RYA Start Sailing Level 2 course combined count as 2 days towards to your RYA Competent Crew Sailing Course.
