RYA Powerboat Level 2

The RYA Level 2 Powerboat Course (National Powerboat Course) is the most popular course for new boaters / crew or existing boat owners to learn or improve upon the basics of handling a powered craft up to 10m. Over the period of 2 days you will spend the majority of your time afloat, with a classroom session to cover the theory aspects of the course. Our course fee is inclusive of the Powerboat Scheme Logbook, Start Powerboating Manual and Certification. No hidden charges.

Course Structure

Your instructor will cover the following topics with you during your time with him/her:

Boat Handling including in confined spaces.

Approaching and securing to a buoy

Anchoring

Leaving and coming alongside

Handling a boat at planing speed

Man overboard

Launching & recovery

Navigation to include charts, tides, buoyage

Undertaking a passage

The ‘Collision regulations’

Useful Information

Our courses are run in rain or shine and conditions can change quickly, especially out at sea, therefore you will need warm clothing and a waterproof jacket as a minimum. We also advise boots or trainers you don\'t mind getting wet ! Sun screen and a hat are also highly recommended.

You will need to bring some lunch and drinks as there are no shops nearby.

We operate from La Collette Marina where there are toilet and shower facilities.
