Content: VHF licence is required by law to control the operation of VHF (DSC) equipment on British Flagged vessels. Course contents include:

•Different types of licensing.

•The history of how and where it all came about and how it fits into todays society.

•A basic introduction to other equipment which assists with communications at sea.

•How to use the radio.

•How to make contact.

•How to process the calls.

•Using digital technology to make calls.

•Scenarios (practicing calls on simulator radios).

On successful completion of a paper based and practical assessment eligible to apply for the VHF license.
