The VHF radio course is an essential 1 day course suitable for all water users. A VHF radio is an important item of safety kit on any vessel for both emergency and general use.

NOTE Sailing vessels are legally required to be fitted with VHF Radio and to have a SRC Certified person on board.

This one day course is for:

Owners/users of fixed or hand-held marine VHF radio.

Boat owners/operators, skippers and crew members.

If you hold a VHF licence issued before 1999 you are legally required to upgrade your qualification if you purchase new equipment.

Course Structure

Making routine calls on VHF and communicate on DSC.

Plotting the position of the vessel and determine the position of the vessel taking into account wind and tides.

Communicating clearly using the correct phonetics and radio procedures.
