As of 2014, the course has now changed so that an external assessor will oversee the exam element, he/she will be a different person from the instructor.
There must be ten hours of theory prior to the exam, we recommend three hours private study followed by our course which will give the further seven hours required and the exam.
The RYA book G26 (available from us) should be the starting point for your private study.
This course starts by looking at the practical operation of a standard Marine VHF, Channel usage, Distress/Urgency/Safety and routine voice procedures.
It then goes on to look at the GMDSS scheme including the practical use of DSC equipment.
On successful completion you will be awarded a licence allowing you to legally operate a VHF/DSC radio.
