This course will: ensure seafarers who hold a valid Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP&FF) certificate as set out in STCW 95 regulation VI/1 and section A-VI/1 of the STCW code can revalidate their competency in accordance with Section A-VI/1 of STCW paragraph 3. Which states that “seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 2 in basic training shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence” in accordance with the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments.
Useful Information
Following completion of this course, delegates will:
•Correctly use portable and mobile (wheeled) fire extinguishers on appropriate fires
•Correctly use hoses, nozzles and hose equipment
•Extinguish different types of fires as a member of a team using a range of equipment commonly found on board a vessel
•Test and use BA and associated equipment
Seafarers who hold an existing Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP&FF) certificate are required to complete this updating training course to maintain proficiency under the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments (STCW Section A-VI/1 & table A-VI/1-1)
•Due to certain aspects of the course being physically demanding and potentially stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement.
