Personal Survival Techniques Update (STCW)
This course is for seafarers who hold an existing Personal Survival Techniques (PST) certificate and are required to complete this updating training course to maintain proficiency under the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments (STCW Section A-VI/1 & table A-VI/1-1).
Course Description:
You will practice and refresh your skills of survival techniques that can be used to maximise the probability of survival following a marine casualty. The course will address the following:
Correct use of the lifejacket and entering the water from a height
Launching of a liferaft. Righting of a capsized liferaft
Wet and dry boarding of a liferaft. Bringing aboard an injured casualty
Liferaft equipment
Actions to aid location by rescuers
This is a practical training session with assessment of candidate's competence using the College's fully Environmental Survival Tank.
What future does this course offer?
Successful candidates will be issued with an MCA approved Certificate Of Updated Proficiency In Personal Survival Techniques in accordance with the latest requirements specified by STCW.
