Summary

Burgess Recruitment is seeking an experienced Captain to oversee a private fleet of yachts based between Florida and the Bahamas. The fleet consists of:

1 x 88’ RIVA (primary vessel)

1 x 38’ RIVA

1 x 44’ center console

2 x jet skis

Care of the owner’s private dock in the Bahamas

The role includes operational and maintenance responsibilities for the entire fleet. The 88’ RIVA has four crew berths, and the Captain will be expected to live aboard throughout the year, rotating between the Bahamas (December to April) and Florida (for storage and maintenance).

Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-day operation and maintenance of the 88’ RIVA and smaller vessels

Dock care and maintenance in the Bahamas

Safe navigation and technical management of the fleet

Reporting to Burgess management on fleet condition, repairs, and logistics

Working closely with the owner's private chef and butler during extended cruises

This position is well-suited for a Captain with engineering knowledge and is ideal for a Captain and partner (Stewardess/Housekeeper) couple.

Requirements:

Experience as a captain with similar-sized vessels

Some engineering knowledge is required

Ability to live aboard the vessel year-round

Proven experience managing a team or partner in a similar setting

Flexibility to relocate between Florida and the Bahamas seasonally

Strong communication and reporting skills

Essential Qualifications

Entry Level Qualifications (or equivalent)

• STCW 95 (STCW 2010)
• ENG 1 (Medical Certificate)

Master/Skipper Qualifications (or Merchant, USCG & AMSA equivalent)

• MCA Master <200gt / OOW <500gt
