Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Freelance 2nd Engineer to join our team for a temporary position aboard a 59m motor yacht based in Fort Lauderdale. The successful candidate will assist the Chief Engineer in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the yacht’s engineering systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Engineer with daily operations and maintenance of all engineering systems, including propulsion, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure the vessel operates at peak performance.
  • Participate in repairs and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the engine room and other technical spaces.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and yacht policies.

Qualifications:

  • STCW certification and relevant maritime qualifications.
  • Previous experience as a 2nd Engineer on motor yachts or similar vessels.
  • Strong technical knowledge of marine engineering systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid passport and the ability to work in the U.S.

Compensation:

  • Competitive daily rate based on experience.

Entry Level Qualifications (or equivalent)
  • STCW 95 (STCW 2010)
  • ENG 1 (Medical Certificate)
Engineering Qualifications (or Merchant, USCG & AMSA equivalent)
  • MCA Approved Engine Course (AEC 1 & 2) Certificate
