Summary
This 80ft expedition boat is looking for a Stew/Cook/PA. Whilst the role is suitable for a couple it's not essential as there are separate crew quarters. Although with a fair amount of time on the hook/traveling it’s an ideal situation for a couple.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious and hard working couple to maintain a classic yacht. Seeking candidates not afraid to cross over to any task at hand, and willing to learn. The role will suit someone with a hunger to learn and grow in the industry or and ideally with experience who hasn’t lost their strong and self motivated work ethic.
As the Stew, you will be asked to do interior, serve, extend help to the owner/guests, and wash the deck, wax and colonite. Whatever the task at hand, to see it as an opportunity to grow.
The boat is private and family orientated: the only guests will be friends, business partners or investors. Very kind and affable owner, who absolutely loves fishing: I worked for him the better part of a year. He had experience on both sides of boating (crew and owner), is patient with greenies and truly appreciates the work we do.
The program is to travel the Caribbean for winters (Puerto Rico where he keeps a home/is a member of the yacht club in town) and Hamptons summers (keeps a cottage in sag harbor)/possibly Canada.
Key requirements:
- Must be comfortable abiding by and enforcing a “dry boat”: no alcohol underway or paid days and absolutely no drugs/vapes/cigarettes.
- The owner’s goal is to feel like he is on vacation every time he steps on the boat; the boat is kept to a professional standard (looks like she is for sale); to disconnect, find balance and focus on physical and mental health. Hopefully this is a priority set you can relate to if you owned a yacht and an environment you are eager to provide the owner.
- The ideal candidate can prep healthy meals 1-2x a day when owner is aboard, and be a yogi/pilates instructor/or trainer or and-at least set-the schedule to include exercise.
- English as a second language is ok, but as a U.S. privately flagged vessel citizenship or the minimum of a B1/B2 visa is required.
