Mate/Engineer Position Available on a 30m Carbon Performance Sailing Yacht
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Mate/Engineer to join the crew of a private 30m carbon performance sailing yacht. The yacht operates with a core team of four crew members, plus a 37’ chase boat captain who is an integral part of the team and assists on deck as needed. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an adventurous owner and family who are passionate about sailing, surfing, wing foiling, diving, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
• Confidently manage all sailing maneuvers, deck duties, mooring, anchoring, washdowns, tender driving, and general maintenance.
• Assist in the engine room regularly, requiring a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Collaborate with the Captain on passage planning and the management of all safety equipment onboard.
• Maintain all deck and engineering equipment/logs to ensure the yacht is always in top condition.
Ideal Candidate:
• Holds a YM Offshore, USCG 100-200 GRT NC (or higher).
• Has 2–5 years of yachting/sailing experience with proven longevity.
• Possesses strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on attitude.
• Is fluent in English, a team player, and happy to assist wherever needed.
• Brings engineering/mechanical experience or an AEC certificate.
• Holds STCW, ENG1, and has all necessary documents/visas in order. B1/B2 Required
• Non-smoker/vaper, no big partiers, and drama-free.
Details:
• Location: Currently in Palma; shipping to Antigua late December/early January.
• Activities: Owner trips in the Caribbean and participation in the St. Barths Bucket Regatta with a full race crew and race manager.
• 2025 Plans: Spring/Summer in Newport, RI/New England, including a 2-month yard period and cruising/racing in New England.
• Start Date: Immediate.
• Salary: DOE.
• Benefits: 4 weeks’ holiday per year.
