Job Title: 2nd Officer possible Couple
Vessel: 62m Private Motor Yacht with a 42ft chase boat
Location: Caribbean and Florida with plans to cruise the West Coast, BC, Alaska and Costa Rica Summer of 2025

We are seeking a dedicated 2nd Officer who is eager to contribute to the smooth operation of the yacht while gaining valuable experience in a leadership role.
Position Overview:
The 2nd Officer will primarily focus on deck duties, with approximately 80% of the role dedicated to deck operations and 20% on the bridge when on guest trips. This position also includes additional administrative responsibilities, especially during the Chief Officer’s leave or when the Chief Officer is covering the Captain’s leave so a total of 4-5 months a year. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a wide range of deck and navigation duties and demonstrate a high level of organizational and maintenance skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deck Duties (80%):
- Oversee and supervise deckhands in daily maintenance and operational tasks.
- Ensure the yacht is maintained to the highest standards, including painting, varnishing, and general upkeep.
- Assist with the operation of tenders, water sports equipment, and other guest activities.
- Conduct safety drills, manage safety equipment, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Assist with docking, anchoring, and mooring operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of all exterior areas of the yacht.
- Ensure the proper care of the yacht’s equipment, including tender and toys, and ensure they are serviced and in working order.
- Bridge Duties (20%):
- Assist the 1st Officer with navigation, watchkeeping, and the safe operation of the vessel during passages.
- Operate and monitor navigational systems and equipment during shifts on the bridge.
- Support the 1st Officer with passage planning and execution.
- Ensure proper log keeping and maintenance of the yacht’s navigational records.
- Oversee bridge operations and assist in route planning and safety protocols.
- Administrative Responsibilities (Chief Officer’s Leave):
- Manage inventory, ordering of supplies, and other deck-related administrative tasks.
- Ensure compliance with flag state regulations and internal yacht policies.
- Assist with crew scheduling, payroll, and other operational duties as required.
- Coordinate and manage planned maintenance and dry-docking schedules.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- STCW certification (with valid medical and ENG1).
- OOW can be newly qualified
- Clean cut, no smoking, low alcohol consumption, no visible tattoos
- Longevity
- No unusual dietary requirements
- Solid experience in deck maintenance, tender operation, and yacht safety procedures.
- Strong knowledge of navigation systems and bridge operations.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proactive and flexible, with the ability to work independently when required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English (additional languages are a bonus).
- Ability to maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times.
