Summary
A well-equipped 191 foot/58 meter (Cayman) charter yacht is seeking a seasoned and well educated SECOND ENIGNEER.
We are looking for the RIGHT candidate and we would rather hold back the appointment until we located the correct individual that will tick ALL the boxes:
1. You HAVE TO have some background with external communications: AV/IT; Starlink, VSat; Cellular as well as Networks, Switches and modems.
2. You HAVE TO be able to demonstrate your abilities to take instructed command of the engineering department when the Chief is not onboard,
3. You HAVE TO be able to use the Planned Maintenance system (IDEA), keep the outstanding job numbers low and be able to manage the PMS with vigorous intent,
4. You HAVE TO work unsupervised and have the confidence to complete projects and jobs professionally WITHOUT contractor assistance.
NOTE:
A. You HAVE TO be in the Continental United States to successfully apply for this position.
B. This is a PERMANENT position and not rotation.
Basic Requirements:
1. You HAVE TO hold AT LEAST a Y4/MEOL engineering license – this is MANDATORY for minimum manning requirements (Cayman). Please do NOT apply for this position if you DO NOT have at least this level of qualification,
2. Conform to ISM standards and maintain the vessel’s commercial standards,
3. Hold all the necessary basic certification: STCW, ENG1, Engineering Certification etc,
4. Maintain three tenders and several water toys,
5. Hold a Cayman Islands Endorsement for the minimum required Y4/MEOL license and a Discharge book,
6. This position will receive instruction form the Chief Engineer and occasionally from the Captain,
7. English should be your first language, or you must have received ADVANCED training/education (College or University) in the English language,
8. Have minimal dietary restrictions and limitations,
Itinerary:
A. The boat will be in Alaska during the summer months and California during the winter months – 2025 until 2027.
B. Summer will be Charter Season and winter will be Maintenance time.
