Summary

70m Private Yacht is seeking a 3^rd Officer with a minimum 3 years experience who has proven longevity & excellent references within the yachting industry.

The yacht operates at a very high standard all year round with a home berth in Spain. The yacht does a full Mediterranean season with a wonderful European owner who loves the yacht & lives on board over the summer which is great for earning sea time. A professional, multinational crew of 19 who are friendly with a great atmosphere and who enjoy being active. The Deck is run with 4 Deckhands a 3^rd Officer a 2^nd Officer and a Chief Officer.

Winter is spent in our home berth in Spain, completing maintenance with crew able to take large chunks of leave & progressing through courses and training in order to improve the team’s skills and abilities as there is a 24-month training scheme. If you were to be considered for the role, we would expect a minimum of 2 years commitment as longevity is important to us for developing a crew member to the next stage of their career. Every third winter the yacht undertakes a refit in Germany.

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, diligent, proactive and very safety conscious who is willing & able to be accountable. You will be leading a team of three experienced deckhands, so you need to have a strong work ethic, leadership qualities and be confident in your abilities to work alongside the team and lead them through whatever daily tasks arise. You must have exceptional knowledge of all deck operations, cleaning procedures and products but be willing to adapt to different methods we have adopted on board.

We are looking for someone who is efficient at communicating on many different levels as an important part of the role is to be the link between officers, department heads and the deck team, especially during the season with 24-hour guest operations.

As a 3^rd Officer you will have bridge duties, passage planning, LSA & FFE management as well as managing the deck team, so someone who is organised with great time management is key. During the off season you will be expected to step up and manage the entire department from time to time while other officers are on leave.

The yacht has a fantastic senior team who offer great training and support. They feel that this is a “bridge apprenticeship” role which is very dynamic & it provides large yacht experience in many different situations and will help the right candidate to become a well-rounded officer.

Mandatory Requirements

The 3rd Officer is required to hold and maintain the following Qualifications and Certificates:

·        MCA OOW 3000gt

·        STCW Basic Training

·        ENG1 Medical Certificate

·        Efficient Deckhand

Essential Qualifications

Entry Level Qualifications (or equivalent)

• STCW 95 (STCW 2010)
• ENG 1 (Medical Certificate)
• Drivers License

Master/Skipper Qualifications (or Merchant, USCG & AMSA equivalent)

• MCA CoC Officer of the Watch <3000gt
