Electronic Chart Display (ECDIS)

During the course participant will explore in detail the corporate voyage plan procedure by planning and executing VP using the benefit of an INS(Integrated Navigation System) to gain the best level of effectives. This is achieved through the use of hand-on exercises and practical demonstrations which are aimed to increase the confidence and efficiency of the operator gained when attending the Nacos Ecdis phase1 course. Mode Awareness and Sensors Integrity processes are dissected in order to make transparent what’s "hidden" behind the display. A modern approach to Voyage Planning is taken to achieve optimal management of ECDIS functionalities and limitations and ultimately control of navigation.

The following format is used during the course:

•The nature of this course requires that all participants and instructors engage in an ongoing process of qualitative assessment. Demonstration of proficiency will be assessed during the simulator exercises.

•The established assessment criteria for the course shall be followed by the instructor.

•Certificates will only be issued to those participants who demonstrate the required level of proficiency.

•Comprehensive records shall be maintained.
