This MCA approved course follows IMO model course 1.27 and is intended to equip candidates with the basic knowledge and skills needed to keep a safe navigational watch using electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS), interfaced with other on board equipment, to maintain safety of navigation.
This qualification is required by Master and all deck officers of UK flagged ships (including fishing boats) which have ECDIS as their primary means of navigation.

Useful Information
Candidates should hold a an Officer of the Watch Certificate of Competency (OOW CoC), or be engaged in a planned programme of training leading to the award of a OOW CoC.
