The course must take place over 5 days or 30 hours of formal instruction. It is divided into four sections.
- Ship Construction
- Stability
- Meteorology
- Seamanship.
The subject is very vast, a good pre course preparation is essential. (Course notes). We also recommend revising basic mathematics and natural sciences.
There is a two and a half hours written exam. Course completion and examination pass certificate have a limited “life span” e.g. 3 years; candidates are advised to take the fact into account when booking the course and still requiring sea time for the final oral (OOW – Yacht < 3000gt) examination.
The course fee INCLUDES the examination fees!
