This is a 1 day course in which delegates will gain knowledge and understanding of the requirements set out in STCW 95 Regulation VI/1 and paragraph 2.1.1. of section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code which consists of theoretical and practical sessions to give all persons intending to go to sea, the survival procedures to be adopted to maximize their chances of survival in the event of a marine emergency.
Useful Information
By the end of this training programme the delegate will:
•Correctly don a lifejacket
•Correctly don and use an immersion suit
•Safely jump from a height into the water
•Right an inverted life raft while wearing a lifejacket
•Swim while wearing a lifejacket
•Keep afloat without a lifejacket
•Board a survival craft from the water while wearing a lifejacket
•Take initial actions on boarding the life raft to enhance their chances of survival
•Stream a drogue or Sea Anchor
•Operate survival equipment
•Operate location devices including radio equipment
Prerequisites
•Delegates must be at least 16 years of age.
•Due to certain aspects of the course being physically demanding and potentially stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement
