This MCA regulated Security Awareness course conforms with MNTB guidelines and provides all seafarers, the education and training in personal survival techniques to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency (KUP) requirements.
It is one of five courses that together make up the STCW Basic Safety Training Course - an essential qualification for anyone wishing to work on commercial ships.
The Proficiency in Security Awareness course will be delivered from a purpose-built classroom to support STCW instruction.
Course Structure
This course takes delegates through the standards of competence required in terms of security awareness on board a ship. These are:
Contribute to the enhancement of the maritime security through heightened awareness
Recognition of security threats
Understanding of the need for and methods of maintain security awareness and vigilance
By the end of the course delegates will:
Be aware of the importance of ship security and the roles of those involved in its provision.
Be aware of the requirements and measure to maintain ship security.
Be able to recognise and report and security threat
