The RYA Day Skipper theory course is for any skipper who would like to be able to safely navigate around familiar waters by day. Day Skipper theory course students are taught chartwork, pilotage, position fixing , weather forecasting, course to steer, collision regulations, tides and basic navigation. Having the knowledge to safely navigate to a new destination will give you an immense feeling of satisfaction. This RYA theory course teaches basic navigation and during the RYA Day Skipper theory course students will gain an understanding of different yacht types and the equipment they carry as well as safety procedures such as distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, life jackets and liferafts. RYA Day Skipper Course theory is intended as an integral part of the overall training for the Competent Crew / Day Skipper Certificates.
