RYA Day Skipper

As the name implies the Day Skipper course provides a comprehensive introduction to chart work, navigation, meteorology, safety & rescue as well as the basics of seamanship and is aimed to give you the knowledge to act as watch leader or to skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by day.

We recommend that you then take the Day Skipper Practical course, which is acceptable in most of European waters to enable you to Charter a Yacht. It also entitles you to an ICC.

Useful Information

We are a Shorebased Training Centre – so we won’t take you to sea! However, past students with little or no experience have benefited from a visit to our Yacht ‘Windswept’ based in Lymington Yacht Haven on the Saturday before a course starts. Subject to weather and wind, we show you the Safety Gear, Instruments and demonstrate what all ‘the bits of string’ are for.
