RYA Day Skipper

A four-day course intended to provide the candidate with sufficient practical experience, navigation, pilotage and safety to safely handle a motor cruiser during daylight and at night.

Time is spent both on the boat and in the classroom planning passages, and students will become completely proficient with navigation. The course includes all aspects of boat handling, passage planning and navigational theory. Short passages are conducted in the early stages and the course culminates with a longer passage and overnight stop in another port. A short night passage and entry into a familiar port are included to give the student some experience of the additional complications encountered at night.
