RYA Level 1 (Start Sailing)

The RYA Start Sailing Level 1 course is for the novice. It is a short introduction to sailing, giving you a basic understanding of yacht handling under power. Puerto Calero offers you an ideal environment for your first taste of sailing.

This course is 16 hours and we run it over 2 days as a non-residential course. By the end of these two days you will have sailed upwind and downwind, hoisted the sails, helmed the boat, learnt how to tie three of the maritime knots – Figure of Eight, Round Turn and Two Half Hitches and a Bowline and gained a background knowledge of safety on board.

On successful completion you will be awarded with the RYA Start Sailing Level 1 certificate.

It is then advised you do RYA Start Sailing Level 2.

RYA Start Sailing Level 1 and RYA Start Sailing Level 2 combined count as 2 days towards to yourRYA Competent Crew Sailing Course.
