The course will: train delegates in the use and limitations of marine VHF radios, and in the correct procedures to be adopted when using them. The course is a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training programme content.
Useful Information
By the end of this training programme delegates will:
•Be aware of the relevant regulations governing the use of VHF radios and the relevant governing bodies.
•Be familiar with the requirements imposed by the regulations and how they affect them.
•Be aware of the range and limitations of marine VHF radios.
•Be able to understand and send distress, urgency and safety messages, including DSC messages.
•Be aware of the correct radio procedures to be followed.
•Be aware of the correct terminology and phraseology to be used during radio communications.
