Stability (Master Yachts)

The course must take place over five days or 30 hours of formal instruction. It will consist of five sections:

- Basic principles

- List and related problems

- Curves of statical stability

- Loll and related problems

- Dry docking and longitudinal stability.

The subject is quite technical and revising of basic mathematics, incl. trigonometry and some basic physics is highly recommended. The course notes contain various exercises on the subject. Course completion and examination pass certificate have a limited “life span” e.g. 3 years; candidates are advised to take the fact into account when booking the course and still requiring sea time for the final oral (Master – Yacht < 500 / 3000 gt) examination.
