This course will: ensure seafarers who hold a valid Personal Survival Techniques (PST) certificate as set out in STCW 95 regulation VI/1 and paragraph 2.1.1 or section A-VI/1 of the STCW code can revalidate their competency in accordance with Section A-VI/1 of STCW paragraph 3. Which states that “seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 2 in basic training shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence” in accordance with the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments.
Useful Information
Following completion of this course, delegates will:
•Correctly don and use an immersion suit
•Correctly don a lifejacket
•Safely jump from a height into the water
•Swim while wearing a lift jacket
•Right an inverted life raft while wearing a life jacket
•Board a survival craft from the water when wearing a lifejacket
•Keep afloat without a life jacket
Seafarers who have six months or more sea service prior to 1st August 1998
•Seafarers who have a certificate of proficiency in PST and who have maintained the required standard of competence by onboard training and experience as listed in the self-declaration form Please Note: Seafarers must sign the self-declaration form as a pre-requisite to the reduced hours entry route of the updating course
